It's pretty good for beginners. I started learning Japanese in February this year. It started with teaching the kana, and very basic phrases. The sentences have become harder as I've progressed, and the listening exercises are great. My only problem with it is that it doesn't teach the grammatical rules. EDIT: There's a glitch that makes me able to only put one or two words into the dropbox and it keeps making me get the question "wrong" and lose hearts. It's very frustrating.

I used to love Dualingo until i was on a 150+ day streak and purchased a freeze and they didnt honor it. Now I'm back to 1 day. No way to contact them to correct it. edit: a new glitch: now occasionally, when I'm choosing words out of the word bank, they get locked up at the bottom of the page and don't register in my answer. there's no way to go back and correct it without losing a heart. This is a serious error and needs attention ASAP!

My opinion of the app has been dropping a lot lately. Removing the sentence discussions has been a huge loss. I made heavy use of those to understand mistakes or sentences I didn't quite get. Now, many mistakes leave you confused and with no explanation or way to figure out what you did wrong. Overall, Duolingo is not a bad app for supplementing language learning. However, it falters as a primary source and it seems to be getting worse and not better.
