About this app

Bluebikes is metro-Boston’s public bike share system. With thousands of bikes available 24/7 at hundreds of stations throughout Metro-Boston, Bluebikes is one of the most popular bike shares in the country.

Use the app to find your closest station and purchase a pass. Then unlock one of Bluebikes' safe, sturdy, easy to ride bikes, and get riding right away. When you’re done riding, simply return the bike to an available dock at any station in the network. The app will show you all station locations, with real-time bike and dock availability, and you can save your favorites for later reference. Tap a station pin or location and the app will show you the best route to get there.

Ideal for one-way trips, commutes to work or school, running errands, meeting friends for dinner, going to a game, or just cruising around metro-Boston to see the sights. All trips under 45 minutes are included for members (the app will track your time for you). Take as many rides as you want during the term of your pass.

Enjoy the ride!

the app service is very reliable. However, when a bike docking station is full, they provide no compensation for the extra distance you will be forced to go to get to another station that is available. Unfortunately, what the staff at bluebikes and Lyft do not understand or presumably refuse to acknowledge is the time it takes to walk back to your destination from an alternative station which is at least 15 minutes if their are no exceptions like the boston marathon which could take a good 45min

Decent service for a decent price, until you factor in their faulty docks. I used this a moderate amount, and one day out of the blue i get hit with a $26 charge, claiming I never docked my bike. I ALWAYS make sure that the green light activates before walking away for this exact reason, so I know that's not correct. And the best part? When BlueBikes "realized" it wasn't docked, did it notify me in the app? No, of course not, they sent me an email almost an hour later. Risky and not worth it.

Need more E bike availability. There's one located over a mile away, the other 8 closer have barely any regular bikes and zero E bikes. The regular bikes are trash and barely maintained, the selection and distribution sucks. Maybe Boston shouldn't let Lyft run their bike share program.
