I've been playing this game for years, and it's treated me well. The puzzles and strategies you use to defeat enemies are the fun part, not just the collecting. It has potential micro transactions, but I built up a very good cast of characters just from what they provide for free, as playing the game gets you pulls from their gotcha. They make money off of people wanting specific characters, not off of just being ABLE to play the game at all. Something other games need to learn.

This is a great game. It's one of the top earning games in the store, but it pulls that off with class. It's not "pay to win" although the in-game purchases will help you advance, and they don't constantly nag you to spend money. And even if you don't pay, you don't see ads–just little announcements for upcoming in-game events. Addictive gameplay, tons of content (and always adding more), and a rich endgame for the folks that have been here for years.

Puzzles are still fun, but more and more of the harder dungeons relies not on puzzle solving, but having the most rare monsters with special abilities. If you aren't a big spender, then you're fresh out of luck. But I guess the same could be said of most games. Still, even if you want to spend money, the random pull machines have such horrible rates, not to mention it's overflowing with useless characters, making the money you spent undervalued. And the "freebies" they give out? Useless.
